The Commission’s research and technology infrastructure strategy promises more EU support. Here’s what’s been funded so far

With the European Commission promising to improve EU support for research infrastructures under a new strategy adopted on September 15, it is instructive to look at the big winners so far in terms of Horizon Europe funding.
Since 2021, the EU has spent €1.2 billion on 177 research infrastructure projects. Much of this funding has gone towards creating open-science infrastructures, such as the European Open Science Cloud, and developing, improving and creating new research infrastructure services.
