After returning to the EU research programme in 2024, the UK is building momentum for a climb up the leader board

The UK is making its way up the Horizon Europe leader board, despite a slow start after gaining full access to the programme in 2024.
Five months into 2025, the UK stands second in this year’s Horizon country table. So far, UK-based researchers have secured €283 million in funding. That’s 11.3% of the total grants signed under Horizon this year.
The only country performing better is Germany, whose researchers have secured €395 million, or 15.8% of the funding.
