Karolinska: Life sciences cluster Stockholm-Uppsala launches new global opportunities website

15 Mar 2012 | Network Updates

Stockholm-Uppsala Life Sciences have announced the launch of a new website – www.suls.se – for what is widely recognized as one of the leading clusters in not just European, but also global terms. Founded on strong research – Karolinska Institutet, Uppsala University, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University, the Swedish Agricultural University – and industrial – GE Healthcare, AstraZeneca – bases, the SULS cluster now employs 30,000 life science experts and is home to 500 companies engaged in development and/or production.

Stockholm-Uppsala Life Sciences CEO, Ola Bjorkman explained the reasons behind the initiative: “Life sciences is a truly global science and business sector and the Stockholm-Uppsala region offers a wealth of collaboration – and investment opportunities – for the global life science community to take advantage of.  We have tremendous opportunities in, for example, protein sciences, cancer, neuroscience and infectious diseases and we cover the entire range from drug development to medical technology, diagnostics and biotech tools.

We now want to make this information as widely accessible as possible and position ourselves as a truly global cluster, along with networks such as One Nucleus, MassBio, Biocom, Toronto and Singapore. The new website will give you an overview of the range available. There are easy-to-navigate links to further support information and to key contacts. It also offers access to company and project databases. Continuing the user-friendly theme, visitors can meet the region's ‘Ambassadors’, get the latest news, read case studies, view short movies, download documents and much more.”
