Funding round closed

Mobile gaming start-up Tag Games Ltd of Dundee, Scotland, whose founders have helped create and develop titles such as Grand Theft Auto and State of Emergency, has announced it has raised “significant” funding from a number of sources.

The backers include the Scottish technology entrepreneur Bill Dobbie, founder of Teledata and Iomart, and the Scottish Enterprise Seed Fund.

The company is now looking to recruit six new members of staff.

Tag Games was founded 18 months ago by three games industry veterans, Managing Director Paul Farley, Creative Director Jamie Bryan and Technical Director Robert Henning, who have funded the business to this point.

The company now plans to move into new areas. Farley said the new money will be used to expand product development and diversify onto new platforms including a repositioning of the company as a casual/downloadable games company.
