Ireland: Agilent Technologies to sponsor new mass spectrometry lab

Agilent Technologies has sponsored a biology mass spectrometry facility at the National University of Ireland, Galway.


Agilent Technologies Inc. has sponsored a biology mass spectrometry facility at the National University of Ireland, Galway, to work on functional genomics, proteomics, lipidomics and metabolomics. As part of the collaboration, the university will develop applications for the spectrometer and demonstrate the instruments to Agilent customers.

“The opening of this facility is a continuation of Agilent’s drive to be a key technology partner for innovative research in academia,” said Gustavo Salem, general manager for Agilent’s mass spectrometer business.

The facility also received funding from Science Foundation Ireland and the inward investment body, the Industrial Development Association

The collaboration between Galway and Agilent is part of Agilent’s Academia Program, which facilitates collaborations with universities around the world.
