Since its founding in 1945, the Technical University of Sofia (TU-Sofia) has established itself as a leading institution in higher technical education and research, shaping the future of engineering and technology in Bulgaria and beyond.

As the largest and most comprehensive technical university in Bulgaria, TU-Sofia offers a diverse range of academic programs across 14 faculties and 2 departments in Sofia, along with branch campuses in Plovdiv and Sliven. The university also operates a Technical College in Sofia, with branches in Kozloduy, Botevgrad, and Kazanlak, as well as two secondary schools in Sofia and Botevgrad.

Renowned for its commitment to innovation, TU-Sofia serves as a hub for cutting-edge research, development, and education in fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, mechanical and electrical engineering, electronics, automation, transport technology, computer systems, cybersecurity, energy efficiency, medical engineering, and management. Students are admitted for studies in Bulgarian, German, English, and French. Currently, the university has over 7,200 undergraduate students, 1,100 Master’s students, and 340 PhD candidates.

Technical University of Sofia maintains strong partnerships with industry leaders, addressing real-world challenges and fostering industrial competitiveness. Between 2022 and 2024, the university participated in 51 European research programs, coordinating 21 of them and partnering in 30, securing a total of €11,885,472 in funding. During the same period, it was involved in 109 National Research Programs, with a total funding of €43,499,611.
