South Africa to launch call for joint Africa-Europe renewable energy projects

The LEAP-RE consortium invites African and European institutions to apply for the Europe-Africa Research and Innovation Call on Renewable Energy. The five year programme aims to develop a long-term partnership between Europe and Africa on renewable energy by funding excellent projects focusing on research and innovation in renewable energy.  The call aims to respond to the global challenges posed by climate change and to provide reliable energy access to millions of people worldwide. Project consortiums applying for the call should include the participation of historically disadvantaged institutions, further information on the eligibility criteria is outlined in the call document. Proposals should be submitted to [email protected].

The DSI and the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) will be hosting an information session in February 2021 to provide potential applicants with the necessary guidance in submitting project proposals.
