Mobile World Capital Barcelona
Mobile World Capital Barcelona is a ground-breaking initiative which seeks to drive the digital advancement of society and to improve people’s lives across the globe. Collectively, our programmes are positively transforming the economy, education and the world in which we live.
With the active support of both public and private sector organisations, MWCapital focuses today on four areas: the acceleration of innovation through tech transfer between science, market and society; the transformation of industries through digital technology; the development of digital talent among new generations and professionals; and deep reflection on the impact of technology on modern society. We are the hosts of the MWC in Barcelona and founders of 4 Years from Now (4YFN), the start-up business platform.
Our Innovation activities connect scientific and entrepreneurial talent to create disruptive technology-based start-ups which tackle societal and industrial challenges. We do this by enabling the innovators themselves to access tech scouting from universities and research centres, work with start-up teams led by first-tier talent, and gain visibility within our innovation ecosystem. We also empower them to collaborate in opportunity-driven pilot projects, and to take advantage of exclusive conditions and preferential investment.
Through Technology, we help to drive the digital transformation of business and society, connecting services and productive sectors to the latest digital solutions. We work together with industry key players on the definition of new services, opportunities and business models. This allows us to validate new products in a real environment and to implement new technologies that improve productivity. It also paves the way for the development of technological pilot projects which actively involve citizens.
Our Talent programmes foster the empowerment of new generations and citizens to assure that digital transformation does not leave anyone behind. In doing so, we support the development of the economy, help solve the digital gap, and improve market competitiveness. Equally important, we help in the development and education of new professionals that fit genuine market needs.
Last but not least, we define our commitment to Society as driving social progress in the digital economy by shaping the impact of technology on society through citizen empowerment. This implies, among others: identifying global challenges and opportunities for the digital agenda; analysing, understanding and evaluating scenarios together with key global experts; developing collaborative solutions to test and validate the impacts of technology in society; and sharing knowledge with key stakeholders and society.
