Our Network meets regularly to debate, and draw public attention to, important policy issues in the international R&I arena, from geopolitics and global cooperation to disruptive and emerging technology domains, as well as the mechanics of Horizon Europe, the EU’s latest R&I framework programme, and other relevant instruments. Members include Sanofi, Microsoft, Business Finland, Imperial College London, ETH Zurich, Max Planck Society, CERN, Fraunhofer, Eureka, COST, the Quebec Research Fund, RIKEN and the South African Department of Science & Innovation. We are looking to expand our Network team from July 2022, with a primary focus on strengthening our intelligence around latest policy developments and funding opportunities, increasing member engagement, supporting the operational execution of projects and events, and raising the Network’s visibility to an international audience of R&I professionals. The successful candidate will work closely with our Network Director on the portfolio of tasks outlined below.

Main tasks

  • Tracking, analysing and advising the team on strategic R&I issues at EU and national levels
  • Drafting concept notes and shaping event programmes
  • Liaising with Network members – bilaterally or in the form of surveys – to understand their strategic objectives, evolving interests and concerns around EU R&I policies, funding programmes and processes
  • Producing event summaries
  • Conducting background research to support other company projects and expert groups
  • Contributing actively to physical and virtual Network events (from closed-door meetings to large conferences), including event moderation
  • Identifying key stakeholders across the world in specific research and technology policy domains
  • Representing the Network as a public speaker in relevant external fora  

Profile requirements

  • A university or advanced degree (ideally in EU affairs or political science)
  • At least 3 years of working experience in a field related to the job
  • In-depth understanding of the European institutions and the R&I policy landscape
  • Track record of policy expertise in at least one sector (e.g. health, energy, digital)
  • Previous experience with associations or membership organisations a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English and French – Dutch and/or German considered a plus
  • At ease with public speaking
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor
  • Team player
