Jean Chambaz, president of UPMC, was elected to the board of the European University Association (EUA) for a four-year term. 

Four other rectors and presidents of European universities were also elected among the 12 candidates running. Tarrach, former president of the University of Luxembourg has, meanwhile, been elected president of the EUA for four years. His term begins this July.

The EUA is an organization representing universities and the national conferences of university presidents in 47 European countries. It brings together 850 establishments that educate 17 million students. EUA is the voice of European universities and in dialogue with the European Community institutions.
